Lorsque Yomogi Asanaka, un élève de seconde du lycée Fujiyokidai, rencontre Gauma, il prétend être un « contrôleur de monstres ». Mais l'apparition d'un kaiju, suivie de l'entrée du gigantesque robot Dynazenon, vient confirmer ses mystérieuses paroles. Et après que Yume Minami, Koyomi Yamanaka et Chise Asukagawa se soient retrouvées au mauvais endroit au mauvais moment, elles sont entraînées dans le combat désespéré contre le kaiju !

Fuyant les forces perverses de Vega, le jeune prince de la planète Fleed quitte sa patrie détruite à bord du robot UFO Goldorak, une puissante machine de guerre, et arrive sur Terre. Sauvé par un scientifique brillant et ses compagnons terriens, il combat les soucoupes et les robots envoyés par Vega, qui prévoit de s'emparer du puissant Goldorak et de conquérir tout l'univers, ou de le détruire.

Comportant trois véhicules différents qui ont combiné pour former un robot massif, le Getter Robo qui était le robot de transformation original. Les Getter Robo ont été créés pour défendre la planète de tous ce qui la menaceraient. Mais ces robots étaient si puissants que ceux qu'ils ont à protéger ont commencé à les craindre. Une crainte si grande qu'il a conduit l'humanité à détruire ses sauveurs et leur créateur. Mais maintenant une ombre a rampé à travers la lune. Les échos faibles peuvent être entendus. Les chuchotements terrifiés racontent les envahisseurs. L'humanité se recroqueville maintenant sous l'oeil attentif d'une menace extraterrestre au delà de leurs cauchemars. Leur seul défense sont les Getter Robo, et le seul homme qui peut les rapporter se trouve sous terre. Ou est-il ?

It is the year 1995. Earth has been conquered by an alien army from the star cluster known as the Akron. The cities of Earth have been destroyed, and the remaining survivors live in harsh shanty towns and villages. Kento, a war orphan, hides within a cave along with his companions in order to escape some bandits. In the cave, they find the secret base of Doctor Earl, who was an inhabitant of the planet Helios, a planet conquered by the Akron. Doctor Earl then fled to Earth, bringing with him the greatest achievement in Helian technology: the super robot Daltanius, whose power is increased when combined with the intelligent lion robot, Beralios. Doctor Earl entrusts the fight for Earth to Kento, who happens to be a descendant from the long disappeared Helian royal line.

One snowy night, the Amami couple who has no child encounter a huge white lion-shaped robot, which holds a baby. When they fearfully take that baby, the "lion" suddenly flies away. Though puzzling, Amami couple are happy to accept that baby as their own child. Eight years later, the time is 2005 A.D. Without notice, a Zonder appear at the Tokyo Bay, merging with debris and a passing ship which have kids on its deck, advancing to Shinjyuku - the center of Tokyo. The Japanese Self-Defense Forces' conventional weapon has no effect and some kids are taken hostage. But there is the hero who stands against that Zonder Robot. His name is Guy the Cyborg, the commander of GGG's Mechanized Unit. The GGG ("Gutsy Geoid Guard") are the newly-made Japanese secret defense forces against the extraterrestrial invasion.

S?z? Haran was a brilliant scientist that was conducting research on Mars. He created a form of cyborg life with the ability to think for itself. These cyborgs, dubbed the Meganoids (????? Meganoido?), soon ran out of control and killed Dr. Haran along with his whole family, save his youngest son, the 16-year-old Banj? Haran. Banj? escapes from Mars on a rocket with a solar-powered super robot called Daitarn 3, which was built with the special metals of Mars. Now 18 years old and living on Earth in a luxurious mansion, Banj? fights against the meganoids and their leader, Don Zauser and his second in command Koros, with the aid of his faithful butler Garrison, his two gorgeous companions, Reika and Beauty, and an orphan boy named Topo. Together they must stop the evil meganoids which aspire to turn all humans into cyborgs and thus "improve" the human race. (Wikipedia)

Koji Kabuto (personnage présent plus tard dans Goldorak sous le nom d'Alcor dans la version française) est le petit-fils d'un célèbre savant. Quand le professeur Kabuto est mortellement blessé par les hommes du Docteur Hell, un mégalomane acharné à la conquête du monde, il révèle avant de mourir à son petit-fils qu'il a conçu un robot géant, Mazinger Z, capable d'arrêter les forces du Mal. Koji prend les commandes de Mazinger Z et parvient à le contrôler, mettant en fuite les sbires de Hell. Dans les épisodes qui suivront, Mazinger Z et ses alliés parviendront à vaincre tous les robots géants envoyés par le Docteur Hell et à faire échouer ses plans de conquête. Mazinger Z obtient un très grand succès au Japon. La série est diffusée en Occident après Goldorak, où elle est appréciée notamment en Italie et dans les pays hispaniques.

Tetsuya Tsurugi est un orphelin élevé par le professeur Kenzo Kabuto (père de Koji Kabuto, le héros de Mazinger Z), qui s'est fait lui-même passer pour mort afin de mieux préparer la défense de la terre contre des invasions. Le père du professeur Kenzo Kabuto avait mis au point le robot géant Mazinger Z, son fils crée Great Mazinger, une version encore plus puissante du même robot et entraîne Tetsuya à le piloter. Devenu adulte, Tetsuya est prêt à affronter la menace de l'empire de Mykene, une race d'humanoïdes venus du centre de la terre. Mazinger Z étant dépassé par ces nouveaux envahisseurs, Great Mazinger arrive à temps pour le sauver. Koji étant parti compléter ses études à la NASA, Tetsuya se retrouve à l'avant-poste pour lutter contre l'empire de Mykene et ses attaques régulières de monstres mécaniques géants.
