2018, une créature titanesque fait son apparition dans un port japonais. Son nom : Hétérodyne. Son origine : une source d’énergie se dégageant, apparemment, de la nature. Après l’utilisation d’engins atomiques et la disparition du monstre, les forces militaires sont jugées inefficaces et la 21st Century Security Corporation crée alors le Dai-Guard, un robot de combat. Mais après 12 ans de paix une autre créature apparaît dans une ville de province où se déroule une exposition de la firme. Des employés présents : Shunsuke Akagi, Ibuki Momoi, Keiichiro Aoyama, face à la lenteur du conseil d’administration, décident de prendre le contrôle du Dai-Guard jusque là placé au rang d’attraction touristique. Commence alors une période de combat et non de guerre pour la société privée surveillée par l’ONU et son représentant Shirota.
